Description
Small rough aventurine for the rock tumbler
This batch consists of very small, rough pieces of green aventurine measuring approx. 1–2 cm. You will receive about 500 grams. Aventurine is a variety of quartz with a hardness of approx. 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale and can be ground and polished well.
Please note: these are intentionally much smaller pieces than the usual rough tumbler stones. The photo is an example; colour, shape, distribution and exact size will vary from bag to bag.
What are these small pieces suitable for?
- For polishing a batch of small aventurine stones.
- To fill open spaces between larger stones with a similar hardness.
- For small tumblers or smaller trial batches.
- For decoration, mosaics, crafts and other creative applications.
What are they less suitable for?
- Not suitable if you ultimately want to end up with large polished stones.
- Less suitable for a long coarse grinding stage: because of the small starting size, the pieces can quickly become even smaller or partly disappear.
- Do not mix them with much softer stones without care; differences in hardness can cause scratching or uneven wear.
- Not intended as reusable filler material. It is genuine aventurine and wears down during tumbling.
Practical tip
Check the batch a little more often during the coarse stage than you would with larger stones. If necessary, remove pieces that are already sufficiently rounded from the tumbler earlier and keep them for the next grinding stage. Never rinse grinding sludge down the sink.
